Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

A few weeks ago we finally had some good news from my most recent scan. It looks like the latest treatment is working. Although I’m not out of the woods yet, this gave us a big boost. I’m so grateful to the prayers of so many and for the goodness of God throughout this time.
This whole experience has been such a roller coaster, full of encouragements and disappointments. There have been times of fear and frustration and times of peace. There have been moments when I’ve doubted my own faith and moments when I’ve felt so close to God.
Throughout it all I have seen the faithfulness of God at work in the life of me and my family. It’s true I don’t always see it in the moment, in fact there are times when I have cried out to God with all my frustrations, doubts and fears. But God has always been there with us through all the ups and downs, a constant never changing presence even when at times it’s felt like everything is falling apart.
It’s so easy to become consumed with all the anxieties and fears that come with the challenges that life throws us. It’s tempting sometimes to think that God is some how less than faithful, less loving or less compassionate about us when things aren’t going well. We can look at others and think why me, why to I have to go through this when they seem to be so blessed.
But, God’s compassion towards us is not dependent on what we’ve done, how we feel or even what we’re going through. It is freely given to all and freely given in all circumstances. And they are new every morning.
This never changing, constant faithfulness is the reason why we can put our hope and faith in him.
This is most powerfully demonstrated through Jesus. He lived a blameless life, died a horrific death, bore on himself the consequences of everything we have and ever will do wrong. He did this so we could be reconciled to God.
He did this because he loves us, all of us.
He rose from the dead and is alive today. He is the same loving, redeeming and merciful Jesus today as he was then.
Even though circumstances and feelings may fluctuate, Jesus’ love for us never waivers. Great is his faithfulness
